From Matchlock to Automatic Weapon
From May 13, 2026 to January 31, 2027, Kaňka Hall and the Small Gothic Hall
Firearms have accompanied humanity for more than 600 years. They have shared in and shaped the destinies of individuals, cities, nations, and entire civilizations. This exhibition explores the development of common, luxury, military, and civilian firearms from the 16th century to the present day. Visitors will step inside the world of the gunsmith’s workshop, discover the technological advances connected with the manufacture and use of these weapons, and uncover the often surprising journeys and stories behind individual exhibits. Several replicas and cutaway models will allow visitors to try handling firearms themselves. An interactive corner for children will also be included. The exhibition was created in cooperation with the Regional Museum in Olomouc.
